Help During Covid 19

Getting access to quality health care has never been more important during this 2019 novel
coronavirus pandemic (otherwise known as COVID-19).

Well this is important…

It has become clear to us all that many nations across the world were totally unprepared for a pandemic of this nature and size. In uncertain times such as these, with unclear directives from leaders of nations and leading health organisations, we have had a lot of concerned customers wonder about what their relatives back in Nigeria may do if they are infected.

Firstly, despite the fact that this Coronavirus is quite contagious, it is important to remember that not all symptoms necessarily point to this virus. So, let’s have a quick look at the main symptoms:

Possible Symptoms

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

A high temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).

A new continuous cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual).

A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste: this means you have noticed you cannot small or taste anything, or things smell or taste differently.

If anyone displays these symptoms and therefore needs testing, they mustn’t rush to go to the hospital immediately. There are two main reasons for this – the scarcity of testing kits mean only Government approved test sites currently have them; and there have been reports of ignorant infected patients carelessly spreading the virus at their local hospitals.

The emerging consensus seems to be that we immediately consider isolating ourselves and our immediate family for up to 2 weeks. Should symptoms worsen, a call may now be made to the hospital for clear advice on treatment strategies being put in place by the leading hospitals on our HMO network.

If we all do our part, we shall surely overcome.
